The Knoxville Songwriters Association was established by Sarah Williams in 1983 as a non-profit organization to serve the songwriting community of Knoxville and surrounding areas. The Association presently has over 40 members and meets at the Fountain City Library in Knoxville, TN.
The purpose of the Association is to bring together aspiring songwriters who are seeking information and education on the craft of songwriting. The best way to get that information and education is to network with others that have the same goal in mind.
The KSA provides that opportunity each Tuesday night from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. (Music jam session 5:00pm – 6:00pm). The meeting location is at the Fountain City Public Library, 5300 Stanton Road, Fountain City, TN 37918
Additionally, various workshops and seminars are offered to members during the year at little or no additional cost to the member. Some of these workshops are on the craft of songwriting, while others may cover the music business or how to market your songs. We try to have someone who is knowledgeable and active in the music business to conduct the seminars.
In the past, a few of the speakers have included Randy Sharpe, a professional songwriter, Jason Blume, a well known songwriter, author, and instructor on the craft of songwriting, Kim Williams, an award winning Nashville songwriter who started out his career as one of the early members of the KSA, and Michael de Bills, a local songwriter, author, publisher, and musician.

I joined KSA in 1991. I have met many wonderful and talented people over the years.
I have written over 300 songs since joining the group. All aspiring songwriters or
writers who just want to hone their craft are encouraged to come by and see us,
every Tuesday. Musical jam starts @ 5, meeting and critiques 6 – 8pm.
The Kim Williams Tribute was inspiring. I too was forced out of my career prematurely by an accident, but not one I was literally involved in. After a 26 year career as an air traffic controller, an aircraft crashed in the Smoky Mountains that I was talking to. By the grace of God, everyone survived, but the stress and pressure it put on me made it nearly impossible to continue. I have been writing songs as a hobby for several years but never really took myself that seriously. I’ve felt God used the accident to move me in another direction, and it was encouraging to read Kim’s testimony that God moved him in the same way. I think I have been a member of KSA on Facebook for a few years, but have not attended any events in probably a decade. I have cut demos of several of my songs now and need to stop piddling around and see if this is what God is calling me to do.
